The Gerbil

Countless drunks stood around him as Liam made his way towards the blue Corvette that his father had given him. He put the key in the ignition and sped home. Being as late as it was, he parked behind the overgrown wall and climbed over. Slowly, he made his way over to his tree.

There was no one, absolutely no one in that commons room that she wanted to talk to. But now that she was down here, the noise was a nice change from the constant silence. She snuggled herslef up in a chair and began to read.

Liam was slightly intoxicated, having taken a few swigs of vodka at the party to try and loosen up. He stumbled his way into the common room and attempted making his descent up the stairs, failing miserably.

It was the sudden laughter that made Sophie look up from what she was reading. She set her book down and her way over to the stairs. She began to help Liam to his feet and up the stairs, forgetting that he wasn't allowed into the girls' dorms.

I followed Sophie to wherever.

She didn't know where his dorm was anyway. She opened the door quietly, letting him into her dorm room. He could use Izzy's bed. She didn't need it right now.

He was laid down on a bed. Liam grabbed a pillow and snuggled it closer to him, mumbling teddy bear. He drifted off to sleep pretty fast.

She headed back downstairs to retrieve her book. When she came back upstairs, she found Liam fast asleep. She grabbed a pair of pajamas and went into the bathroom. She changed and decided to continue reading. Because that's what Sophie does.

Liam woke up in Sophie's bedroom Saturday morning. He was quite startled, not remembering last nights events. Not to mention the giant hangover he had.
He looked across the room to see Sophie quietly reading as usual.
"Sophie, did we.....you know."

"Hm? Oh, you're awake. And, uh, no." Her expression was one of mild concern and amusement.

"Okay, good. That would've made things a bit awkward."Liam replied.

She nodded. Why would he think...? Ew. No. I would never do that with him.

He stood up and groaned in pain from the headache he was having. "God-damned alcohol."
"Well, I'm going to go raid the medicine cabinet for some Advil. I'll see you later."
Liam snuck down the stairs and into the boy's wing. He opened the door to his room to find Jerome sleeping soundly. Slipping into the bathroom, he pried open the medicine cabinet in such a way that it wouldn't squeak and make his already pounding headache worse. With two blue pills, he was set for the rest of the day.

After Liam left, Sophie let out a sigh of relief. The entire night, she had been regretting letting him stay in her room. As for what to do with the day, there were definitely books that she could help shelve at the school library. For now, she pulled her laptop out of her backpack and played Minecraft.

Liam layed down on his bed to try and sleep it off, but Jerome was quick to ask the questions.
"So, where'd you go last night?"
"Parties, girls, the usual Friday night."
"Mate, a usual Friday night is sitting at home looking for funny posts on Tumblr."
"Well, not for me. But enough about me, where'd you get off to Jer? I didn't know that you had any plans."
"I didn't, I just wanted to go for a drive around.Check on some things."

Killing Creepers and zombies was fun, but she was bored. She wanted to look for Izzy. You're not going to ask him for help today.

"What things?"
"A job opened up at the coffee shop on Kipler Street. I was being interviewed."
"Hmmm......I was just there yesterday. There didn't seem to be any signs for job apllications then."
Jerome's face became a bit paler and he simply stated,"It was in the paper." Then looking over to his bedside clock, he said,"Oh well look at the time. I need to go." He rushed out without even grabbing his jacket.
"Well that was a bit weird." Liam thought.

Sophie finished her current task in Minecraft and shut down her computer. She went to take a shower, thinking of any possible search places while she got ready.

The boy decided to go down to get some breakfast from the dining hall.

Once she finished, she headed downstairs for a light breakfast. She'd figure out where to go from there.

The dining hall had cleared out in the past hour and so had the waffles that Liam liked to eat everyday. He sat near the window with an improvised meal of eggs and a poppyseed muffin. His mother loved eating poppyseed muffins when she was alive. That and waffles. He ate quietly, lost in the memories.

She grabbed one of the last small bowls of fruit salad and poured herself a bowl of cereal. Spotting Liam across the dining hall, she quietly made her way over to his table. "Mind if I sit here?" she asked quietly.

His mind snapped back into reality and he looked up to see Sophie. "Sure."

She smiled, and sat down. "So, I was wondering..."

"What were you wondering?"Liam said, smirking.
